Presentation by Weatherford firefighters deployed to California wildfires. Weatherford Fire Department Lieutenants Todd Helm and Bert McFadin discussed their experience in California and presented a brief video. Virtual National Night Out highlight video. Police Chief Lance Arnold presented this item. Chief Arnold explained that the City of Weatherford hosted a Virtual National Night Out on Tuesday, October 6th from 6-9 p.m. Hosting the event virtually enabled the City to provide a safe method without having to completely cancel the event due to the pandemic. Chief Arnold showed three videos of first responders who participated in the event.
Consent agenda, approved as one vote (5-0, on the motion of Heidi Wilder, second by Kevin Cleveland): Approved the minutes of the City Council meetings held September 21 and September 22, 2020. Authorized the City Manager to utilize funds not to exceed $150k for FY21 contracted legal services with Taylor, Olson, Adkins, Sralla & Elam, LLP (TOASE). Authorized the City Manager to execute the Subdivision Improvement Agreement Amendment 1 for the Wossum Ranch Addition subdivision. Approved the Interlocal Agreement for cooperative purchasing between the Town of Highland Park, Texas and the City of Weatherford. Authorized the City Manager to execute a contract with Petty & Associates, Inc. for consulting services for the Hotel Convention Center, Annual Council Retreat Strategic Planning Project, Downtown By-Pass Alignment, TIRZ 1, TIRZ 2, and Economic Development to utilize funds not to exceed $100,000. Approved the purchase of library books, audiovisual materials, material processing, Summer Reading Challenge books, and Book Club books from Ingram Library Services, LLC for a total amount not to exceed $142,844 under Texas State Comptroller of Public Accounts contract #715- M2. Approved the appointment of Joshua Porter to the Historic Preservation Commission; and the appointment of Phil Vandagriff from alternate to regular member on the Building and Standards Commission; and the appointment of Jacob Gustainis to the vacant alternate member position on the Building and Standards Commission.
Discuss and consider the City Council's holiday meeting schedule for November and December 2020. City Manager James Hotopp presented this item. Due to the holidays, Mr. Hotopp proposed one Council meeting on November 17th and one meeting on December 15th. These dates are the 3rd Tuesday of each month. No action was taken on this item. However, Council was in agreement to hold the November and December meetings on the proposed dates. Discuss and consider approval of donating Unit 6214, Engine 2 to the Weatherford High School for the WISD Career and Technical Education Program. Fire Chief Jonathan Peacock presented this item. On the motion of Heidi Wilder, second by Matt Ticzkus, the Council voted unanimously to approve the donation of the 2001 American LaFrance FL80-Engine 2, Unit 6214 to the Weatherford High School. Motion carried 5 - 0.
Renew the three-year agreement between the City of Weatherford and the Weatherford Mountain Bike Club. Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events Shannon Goodman presented this item. On the motion of Heidi Wilder, second by Jeff Robinson the Council voted unanimously to approve the new agreement as presented. Motion carried 5 - 0.
