Recognize Jeff Oakes for his efforts regarding trash cleanup in Weatherford. Mayor Paul Paschall recognized Mr. Jeff Oakes and his team "Love Weatherford" for their litter removal efforts.
Consent agenda, approved as one vote (5-0, on the motion of Heidi Wilder, second by Kevin Cleveland): Approved the minutes of the City Council meeting held February 14, 2023. Renewed the contract with Brightview Landscape Services, Inc. in the amount of $173,465.09, for mowing and landscaping City properties for an eight-month period. Approved the purchase of Fire Department/Police Department personnel uniforms from Galls, LLC for an estimated combined amount of $65,000 though the North Texas Share Master Services Agreement #2021-073. Reappointed Michael Allison, Allen Beadel, Jacob Gustainis, and Liza Walters to the Building and Standards Commission; and reappointed Scott Terry to the Zoning Board of Adjustments; and reappointed Teri Hubbard and Brenda McClurkin to the Historic Preservation Commission.
Presentation of Parks, Recreation and Special Events Master Plan. Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events Jaycob Kirkpatrick presented this item. He stated that all phases of the plan are complete and that he will bring this item back for formal adoption at the next meeting. Mr. Kirkpatrick introduced Keith Rodenhauser from Brandstetter Carroll who presented the 10- year Master Plan. Mayor Paschall called the following: • Dan Roberts, 275 Union Hill Road, Mineral Wells, spoke regarding healthy aging and the opportunity to help people stay healthy and stay in their homes. Parks and recreation are tied to being healthy. • Mike White, 2215 Lakeforest Drive, Weatherford, spoke about pickleball stating that it is for people of all ages, improves health, offers the opportunity to meet people, and asked the Council to improve the pickleball facilities in Weatherford. Cc02282023 Page 1 of 2 • Michael Mitchell, 1008 Katherine Road, Weatherford, spoke in favor of pickleball facilities. • Melody Dawes, 382 Legacy Boulevard, Weatherford, spoke in favor of pickleball facilities. • Eileen Leslie, 168 Ellis Spring Drive, Weatherford, spoke in favor of Chandor Gardens and the Chandor Foundation. Ms. Leslie asked that the Council not lose sight of the Chandor Gardens Master Plan amongst the large parks plan that has been amassed. She also asked that the Council find a way to initiate [...]
