Proclamation naming April 16-22, 2023 as Volunteer Appreciation Week in Weatherford. Mayor Paschall issued this proclamation recognizing all the city's boards, commissions, and committee members, as well as the many volunteers who directly assist city departments in "Building a Strong Community."
Consent agenda, approved as one vote (3-0, on the motion of Heidi Wilder, second by Kevin Cleveland): Approved the minutes of the City Council Regular Session held March 27, 2023. Approved a short-term lease (one year) for 221 North Main (city owned) to Ellis Three Holdings (Edgewise Eight Brewing) for an amount of $3.430.00 per month.
Consider approval of Resolution R2023-06 designating 202 West Oak Street, known as the James Claude Wright House, City of Weatherford, Parker County, Texas, as a local historic landmark. Director of Development and Neighborhood Services Kaleb Kentner presented this item. Mr. Kentner stated that at the March 22, 2023 regular meeting, the Historic Preservation Commission voted unanimously (5-0) to forward the request for local historic landmark designation to the City Council with a recommendation of approval. • Terry Hubbard, 1317 South Lamar Street, spoke in favor of this designation. On the motion of Heidi Wilder, second by Kevin Cleveland, the Council voted to approve this request. Motion carried 3 – 0.
Consider approval of Resolution R2023-05 designating 119 Palo Pinto Street, known as 1933 Weatherford City Hall, City of Weatherford, Parker County, Texas as a local historic landmark. Kaleb Kentner presented this item as well. Mr. Kentner stated that at the March 22, 2023 regular meeting, the Historic Preservation Commission voted unanimously (5-0) to forward the request for local historic landmark designation to the City Council with a recommendation of approval. On the motion of Heidi Wilder, second by Kevin Cleveland, the Council voted to approve this request. Motion carried 3 – 0.
Radio System Project Update Emergency Management Coordinator Michael Baldwin presented this item. This update was for informational purpose and no action was required or taken. Consider approval of Resolution R2023-07, a Joint Resolution between the City of Weatherford and the City of Willow Park to adjust the boundary between the Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) of the two cities. This item was removed from the Consent Agenda to be discussed separately. Pursuant to Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, VTCS, (Open Meetings Law): In accordance with the authority contained in Section 551.071 Consultation with Attorney, the Council convened in Executive Session at 6:18 p.m. They reconvened in Open Session at 6:47 p.m. On the motion of Heidi Wilder, second by Paul Paschall, the Council voted to adopt Resolution R2023-07 adjusting the boundary between the ETJ of Weatherford and Willow Park. Motion carried 2 - 1.
Council Member Kevin Cleveland voted in opposition.
