Recognize the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce for receiving three awards from the Texas Festivals & Events Association for Best Hat, Best Event T-Shirt, and Runner Up for "Best in Texas Award." Council Member Matt Ticzkus recognized Chamber President Tammy Gazzola, Peggy Hutton, Gloria Martinez, and the entire team that made these awards possible.
Consent agenda, approved as one vote (4-0, on the motion of Jeff Robinson, second by Kevin Cleveland): Approved the minutes of the City Council meeting held February 22, 2022. Authorized the purchase of the furniture for the Weatherford Public Safety Building from GL Seaman & Company under Omnia Cooperative Purchasing Program for an amount not to exceed $810,000. Adopted Resolution R2022-08 declaring unopposed candidates in the May 7, 2022 General City Election elected to office; and canceling the election. Approved General Services contract (Bid #2022-009) with Brightview Landscape Services Inc. for Mowing and Landscaping City Properties in the amount not to exceed $142,032.50. Appointed Bert Thompson to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Consider and/or act upon acceptance of the annual audit report and the single audit report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2021, as presented by Pattillo, Brown & Hill, L.L.P., Certified Public Accountants. Finance Director Dawn Brooks presented this item. Ms. Brooks introduced Paula Lowe from Pattillo Brown & Hill, LLP, the City's auditing firm. Ms. Lowe presented the results, an unmodified opinion on both the annual audit report and the single audit report, which is the highest possible opinion that can be rendered. This is also referred to as a clean opinion. Ms. Lowe reviewed some major financial highlights as well as presented a comparison of business-type activities from 2019, 2020, and 2021. On the motion of Matt Ticzkus, second by Jeff Robinson, the Council voted to accept the audit report and single audit report. Motion carried 4 - 0.
