Hold a PUBLIC HEARING regarding the voluntary annexation of 178.03 acres of land more or less located in the the A.M.C. Blythe Survey, Abstract 54, the T. & P. Railroad Company Survey No. 165, Abstract 1441, the T. & P. Railroad Company Survey Abstract 1453, the George Staggs Survey, Abstract 1196, the T. Brown Survey, Abstract 133, Benjamin Thomas Survey, Abstract 1563, the J. Kesley Survey, Abstract 780, the Clarence Lovejoy Survey, Abstract 837, the E. Dean Survey, Abstract 355, the I. C. Spence Survey, Abstract 1193, and the Sam R. Barber Survey, Abstract 151, Parker County, Texas. Terry Hughes, Director of Capital Transportation, presented this item. This Public Hearing is for the voluntary annexation of 178 acres, the remainder of the Ric Williamson Memorial Highway, which was deeded to the City by the County approximately four weeks ago. Mayor Hooks opened the Public Hearing at 6:33 p.m. As there were no speakers, Mayor Hooks closed the Public Hearing at 6:33 p.m.
Consider approval of an Interlocal Governmental Contract for Emergency and Fire Protection Services with Parker County. Fire Chief Paul Rust stated that the contract is for the area of the county for which we provide fire service. The contract is unchanged from last year. On the motion of Craig Swancy, second by Waymon Hamilton, the Council voted unanimously to approve the this contract. Motion carried 5 - 0.
Discussion regarding the impact of technology on public libraries. (Dale Fleeger) CC 032514 Page 1 of 3 Dale Fleeger, Director of Library Services, and Chris Accardo, Assistant Director of Library Services, presented this item. Discussion included the downloadable materials offered at the Weatherford Public Library; a review of the statistics regarding digital and physical material checkouts from February 2011 to February 2014; costs associated with digital materials; costs of hardcover materials versus eBook and eAudio; 2002-the first-ever all-digital public library in Tucson, Arizona reinstated a physical collection due to public demand; available equipment and costs associated with the Bexar County BiblioTech library; that more information is available at the Pew Research Center at http://libraries.pewinternet.org/ . In Fiscal Year (FY) 2013, the library had 30 public workstations, four equipped with Microsoft Office, and public use included: 22,463 Internet sessions 5,015 Microsoft Office sessions 16,746 Internet hours 4,755 Microsoft Office hours 5,694 Wireless Internet sessions Other information included the computer classes offered at the library; the consortiums, associations, and databases in which the library participates; the increased collection and resources available to our citizens through various partnerships; the digital resources offered including [...]
