Discuss staff and council goals, objectives, and priorities: (CONTINUED) • Director of Development Services Scott McDonald discussed plans to update both the General Plan and the Development Code to better align with current market conditions and community needs. He noted this would include ensuring that 2018 strategies reflect 2026 growth trends, aligning master plans with current development requirements, assessing progress, updating priorities, and identifying and removing barriers. McDonald also reviewed current state and regional residential housing trends and compared them to local development activity, and discussed options to address housing quality, including potential design standards and development tools such as MMDs, MUDs, PIDs, and MPCs to better manage growth adjacent to the City’s corporate limits. Following discussion, the Council requested an updated analysis on the status of issued permits and directed staff to evaluate flexible options to ensure quality development standards are brought forward for Council consideration.
