Discuss and consider updating the City's 2013 Strategic Plan. Mr. Lester presented this item as well. He began with a review of the action areas listed in the City's current strategic plan. The Council considered and discussed the following items: 1. Are there any areas of our plan that are deficient and what are they? Do we need to refocus or clarify the scope of our action items? Are any of them no longer relevant? 2. Are there any areas not listed in our plan that Council would like to discuss? In three to five years, what should be different about our city? What does success look like? Council discussion included: revisit the transportation plan and determine a strategy to move forward revisit the need for traffic lights on North Main address fleet maintenance, replacement and repairs across the city, with an emphasis on public safety fleet maintain the road infrastructure we already have remodel/renovate/addition to the library vacant buildings in the downtown area maintain facilities, vehicles and infrastructure first, remodel/renovate/add-on when necessary that the transportation thoroughfare plan impacts a greater number of people and should rank higher than the library evaluate the possibility of restoring the retiree cost of living adjustment (COLA) repeater Update the Council regarding the Mount Pleasant Schoolhouse.
