0 consent items, 1 regular item; 1 recorded vote, all unanimous. Written from the minutes.
Consider adoption of Resolution R2015-18 ordering the June 13, 2015 Runoff Election for Council Member Place No. Three authorizing the Mayor to execute the "Notice of Runoff Election", and authorizing the Mayor to contract with the Parker County Elections Administrator to administer early and Election Day voting. Mrs. Nowell presented this item stating that in 2010, voters amended the City's Charter to allow for three- year terms on the Council. As such, the Texas Constitution requires that for terms in excess of two years, all the Council members must be elected by majority. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the votes, then a runoff election must be held between the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes. Those candidates were Reed Wainwright and Dale Fleeger. The City will have a runoff election for Place 3 on Saturday, June 13, 2015 with early voting being conducted on weekdays June 1-9. The estimated cost for the runoff election is $6,391.60. On the motion of Heidi Wilder, second by Waymon Hamilton, the Council voted to approve Resolution R2015-18. Motion carried 4 - 0.
