At its Aug. 25 meeting the council held the public hearing on the city manager's proposed budget and heard no comments; the rate is a penny under the no-new-revenue rate, per the minutes.

The Growth Ledger's first edition is built from the Aug. 25 council minutes, the district's Sept. 14 tax-rate notice and the state's datasets; it grows as the record does.
Why Weatherford needs a ledger: The county seat keeps a good record. Almost nobody reads it. This site does, every morning.
The Weatherford Democrat is the county's newspaper and the Fort Worth Report covers the region; the Ledger links both whenever they have the fuller story. The city's agendas, minutes and meeting video are on its Granicus page, the school board's on BoardBook, and the county's on its Agenda Center.
The Weatherford Ledger is independently owned by its publisher, who lives in east Parker County and whose family has business interests in the county, including real estate marketing and early-childhood education. Any entry that touches those interests carries a note saying so. Sponsors never see a story before it runs and never decide what runs.
