Closed sessions

Texas lets a governing body close its doors for a short list of reasons, the attorney, real estate, personnel, security, a student, economic development, and requires it to post the reason. The minutes often record the clock. Where they do, here is how much time each body spent, by year, and each session with its posted subject.

Only sessions whose start and end times appear in the minutes are counted; a body that records "an executive session was held" without times is undercounted here, and the school board's minutes record times far more consistently than the city's. Years with few reports on the record are partial.
